Frequently Asked Questions
Dad's Jewish, Mom's not...Who am I?
This is not uncommon. In fact, the statistics are that nearly 50% of Jewish people marry non-Jews. We believe that the Messianic congregation is a perfect answer to the intermarriage dilemma. The children of intermarried couples often face unique challenges of religious and spiritual identity. Traditionally, a Jew was defined as having a Jewish mother. Today, that definition has been changed in some Jewish traditions, to include patrilineal descent. Biblically, we see that the genealogies were always determined by the fathers. Non-Jewish women who married Jewish men were brought into the covenant of Abraham through marriage. The children of such unions were always considered part of the covenant, i.e. Jews. If you are from an intermarried family and are looking for a spiritual home, we would encourage you to find a messianic congregation in your area. You will most likely find a warm, loving atmosphere, where you will find spiritual answers and hope.
